HP SecuReuse – We are an approved participant

 

With the HP SecuReuse program, Hewlett-Packard (HP) has introduced a new approach towards a circular economy: the secure and authorized reuse of original HP chips in remanufactured print cartridges.

What does this mean for you?
With current firmware versions, HP has for the first time enabled original chips to be technically reset and reused correctly.

The result:

✔ No confusion for end customers due to printer messages
✔ No “Non-HP toner” warnings
✔ No dynamic security blocking
✔ Accurate toner level display
✔ Full MPS capability
✔ Firmware-stable solution

When inserting the cartridge, your customers will see the following system message:
“Remanufactured and not by HP”.
No warnings about incompatible or manipulated chips will appear. This reduces inquiries, avoids unnecessary support cases, and significantly increases acceptance in professional environments.

Why this is a key difference:
In the past, firmware updates could lead to compatibility issues. Third-party chips were blocked or warning messages appeared, even though the cartridge functioned perfectly.

With SecuReuse, this risk is eliminated.

Since the original chip is reused, full communication between printer and cartridge is maintained. This ensures:
• Higher system stability
• Fewer complaints
• Predictable MPS environments
• Long-term investment security

Requirement: up-to-date printer firmware

For this function to work correctly, the printer must have a current firmware version that supports SecuReuse technology. Only with the appropriate firmware can the printer correctly recognize the reset original chip and use the cartridge without limitations. For products with third-party chips not used within the SecuReuse program, printer firmware updates may lead to compatibility issues. Therefore, we strongly advise against firmware updates in such cases.

Note on model availability
HP independently decides which printer models support chip reset within the SecuReuse program. We have no influence on this decision. So far, only one product line for HP Color LaserJet Pro 3202/MFP 3302 has been approved.
